Sabrina Learman
soprano
"The truth and naturalness of her voice made a powerful
effect" - The Boston Globe. Soprano Sabrina Learman
performs frequently as a soloist in the Boston area. An advocate
for new music, Ms. Learman has premiered many works and has
sung everything from Bach to Schoenberg and beyond, collaborating
most recently with composer Yehudi Wyner. She has been a soloist
with a variety of groups, including ALEA III, First Mondays
in Jordan Hall, Composers in Red Sneakers, the Enchanted Circle
Series, the Florestan Recital Project, the Boston Chamber
Ensemble, Opera New England, The Zamir Chorale of Boston,
and the Avenue of the Arts Chorale. Ms. Learman has been heard
live on WGBH Radio and has recorded for the Discovery Channel
and Boston Baroque, with whom she has been singing for almost
ten years. Upcoming appearances include the premieres of two
works with the Nashua Symphony in March of 2007.
When not performing, Ms. Learman has a passion for teaching
and has been on the faculties of the UMass - Dartmouth, the
Brookline Music School, and the New York State Summer School
for the Arts. Ms. Learman's teachers have included Kathleen
Kaun, Ruth Falcon, Maria Spacagna, Thomas Paul, Lucy Shelton
and Tamara Brooks. She holds both a master's degree and a
graduate diploma from the New England Conservatory, where
she was the 1996 recipient of the Gunther Schuller Award,
and a bachelor's degree from the Eastman School of Music.
